Our principal tutor, Alan McDermott, has had previous teaching experience with one of the UK's largest
I.T. training providers as well as commercial experience working on one of the largest C#
implementations in Europe.
Alan purchased a C# distance learning course from a top IT training provider in 2003 and within 15
months had two Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) qualifications and was offered a job as one of their
tutors. After 18 months and 3 more MCPs Alan left to gain some real world commercial experience but quickly realised
that his real passion lay in teaching, and with Quatromain he saw the chance to give students the help and support
they require at a price they an afford.
Alan wrote the Quatromain training manual based on his experiences as both a student and a tutor,
which means he knows what a student needs and how to deliver it in a format which is easy to understand.
Below are a few testimonials from Alan's students.
"I found Alan to be always available to help, and willing to go the extra mile,
to help me understand the .NET Framework."
Spencer Pearse
"As a tutor Alan was a lifeline of support and bottomless pool of knowledge.
His 100% dedication as a tutor was extraordinary. Without him I would not have been
able to pass my exam first time and I finally landed myself a job as a Software Developer.
Thanks Alan"
Dave Anson
"The C# programming and language and the .NET framework is a tall order to learn.
Fortunately knowing Alan as a C# tutor has given me an
excellent boost to my learning experience. He has helped me immensely to understand
this subject and has this amazing ability to explain complex issues in a simple to
understand format. In fact when Alan left, they lost a valuable asset
and to date this asset has yet to be surpassed by his replacement."
Mark Gates
"Being a novice to programming, without the help of Alan’s expertise in
the C# programming language, to pass the MCAD course structure would have been much
more difficult."
Andrew McGregor
"Alan was my tutor during a programming course for about two years.
He was one of the most helpful and trusted tutors and was always the number
one contact for help. He is definitely missed by his students."
Lambros Vasliliou
"I learnt a considerable amount due to the fact that Alan’s explanations were
always very clear and thorough, and was always willing to go over any grey
areas I might have had, numerous times, until I understood the topic. His
expertise and in depth knowledge of .NET languages was second to none, and was
always willing to share that knowledge. All in all, an excellent tutor."
Devon Burnett
Of the times I spent with Alan in person, I found him engaging, knowledgeable, and a great
sense of humour to help the required information sink in. His programming is a joy to watch
